The Fruitport Punx

This album means more to me than any other piece of music from the scene.

My friends introduced my to this album and said they had a show down at the Fruitport Band Shell in Pomona Park. I had never know about DIY music. It was instantly inspiring that you could make a band rent a space and have a show. My dad was a roadie so i was familiar with bands and music scenes but this didnt have a light set up and pro audio. all the bands set up their meager equipment that they shared and just played.

There was no stage the crowd and the bands mixed with everyone singing along to every word. it was amazing.

You can feel the fun they have come out of the speakers.

This album quickly became the soundtrack to learning about the punk scene. all through my life ive gone back to these songs and this is the first album i put up on the bandcamp.

This album really shows how impressive Duckbomb is with their brand of Hardcore. Inspired by classic bands like Gorilla Biscuits and A Global Threat. They infused their great sense of humor and not taking themselves so seriously. what results is songs that welcome you to join in and sing along.

The songs on this album speed along. Sardine’s blasting tempos and blisteringly fast tom fills make it feel like youve run a marathon every song. Penguin’s bass lines are snappy and melodic. While Monkey Mike’s Beautifully disgusting swirling guitar fills the space.(I once asked Mike how he got that Phaser guitar sound. he told me his amp was just broken and sounded like that.)
